Is bigger better?

As Cata looms closer and closer, more information is being released. Is this a good thing?

What do we have to look foward to? It like knowing what you are getting for Christmas in advance. For some people they are avoiding reading info, others are eagerly absorbing information as it comes out (I know I love more info, I hate being in the dark!)

Either way there was pros and cons to either way.

Staying in the dark

Pros
1.) You are surprised and have that feeling of awe and wonder.
2.) Giddy as a school girl when you find out something new.
3.) Excited about learing everything yourself, self fullfillment.

Cons
1.) You are not able to hit the ground running.
2.) People may wonder why you do not know where everything is.

Reading all info out there

Pros
1.) Once Cata is one out can hit the ground running!
2.) Can be a source of info for guildees who may have not been keeping up.
3.) You know what to expect and what to do.

Cons
1.) Lessened feeling of surprise.

What do you prefer, do you prefer too be in the dark and surprised when it arrives? Or are you like me? gimme info NAO!!! NOMNOMNOM! Or maybe you only read what you want to read and avoid lore spoilers?

Guild Levels…what do you think?

Overall I think it is a good idea, and is a good way to perhaps promote guilds as the social/organizational unit in MMO’s.

However, like with any good idea, there is some glaring issues.

How exactly is guild experience earned? Per Blizzard, doing any activity etc will allow for it. A very generic answer. Is there a cap per hour? Does one activity earn more experience over another?

Another thing is appears Blizzard is no longer just counting the top 20 contributers, appears all guild members will count toward guild xp.

Is this a good idea? That really does favor LARGE guilds, does Blizzard only want big super zerg guilds out there only?

Many of the really good rewards and achievements appear to be geared toward larger guilds.

Reach Guild Level 25? that will take a long time….

Catch 100,000 fish – this may or may not take a while.

Kill 50,000 critters?

I remember in Warhammer: Online there were guild levels and the larger your guild was, the faster your guild leveled. This promoted huge zerg guilds rather then guilds who could work together in my opinion.

Blizzard, do you really just want a few huge guilds out there??

I just kind of want the surprise and the awe.

I know that I normally _have_ to know what is going to happen, but for some reason I want to be surprised this time.

I think that no matter how much information you absorb that is out there, you cannot absorb it all. There will be surprises and still plenty of new things simply by all the zones being revamped that even if you studied SO HARD for the Cataclysm release, you still wouldn’t know it all.

Also, I love the kitty picture.

As for the guild levleing, it “may” favor larger guilds slightly, but since we don’t know how fast it will go right now, there is no way of saying. We have a moderate sized guild with about 20-25 active players each night (though who’s online changes through the night). I expect with a guild our size we’ll advance at an average rate. I am not looking to take on lots of people just for guild advancement. The guild reputations also leans toward building a loyalty towards your guild anyways. Some of those guild level rewards are only available with certain guild reputation anyways, so that helps keep people from migrating to higher level guilds just for guild level.

That is true, one cannot hopefully hope to absorb all the info out there. I guess the point I was trying to make…didnt make it very clear was more i guess toward info on your class and how it will operate in Cata.

Yes the kitty pic is win!

I forgot about the guild rep thing XD
Yes, this will help people from guild hopping. And it is true we dont know how fast the xp meter will move, but I am still getting this feeling that many people may get into guilds and just be a nameless face. 😦

Yeah, as a GM myself, one thing I’m really going to watch for it people trying to get in just to be the nameless face. We might actually have to start being selective?!?! Yikes!

I can agree with you about “info on your class” maybe that’s why I feel like I can’t possibly absorb it all…I have 7 level 80s!!

        /overwhelm

7 80’s zomg!! Yup I would defintely feel overwhelmed in your shoes!

I won’t tell you how it was once my goal to have 8 level 80s by Cataclysm! I still could make it as the CK is level 70, but I just feel like I have too many other things to do before leveling another character!

            Whoops, I just told you.

gogogo #8! You still have time! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

              My goal is to have a 3rd 80 by cata…boomkin is at 70 🙂
