We all have things, even in everyone’s favorite game (WoW), that needs to die off like the dinosaurs.
The things you know…you see and go “WTF were they thinking!” Or something that for no apparent reason makes the rage bar grow.
1.) RP that you CANNOT skip once you have seen it once. Yes, Saurfang RP I am glaring at you. DIAF approved! Yes, improvements have been made for CoS and HoR…but yeah horde side fighting Saurfang…might as well as take a dump and upload it to shitblog while waiting for the fight to start.
2.) Murlocs…yes, I hate them…that noise they make…RAWR…want to buy chemical agent and kill all them murlocs.
3.) I know I will get a lot of hate for this…non-combat pets…not sure why…I have never been a fan on them. They kind of remind me of those useless lapdogs celebrities have.
4.) TOO MANY HOLIDAY EVENTS!!! Azeroth does not equal earth….why why why why why why!!!!
5.) 10 vs 25 man loot. Yes and I am glad Cata will fix it.
6.) Poorly designed armor in the lower lvls. Low lvls characters looks like circus clowns…and as we know clowns are creepy.
7.) How do females chests still heave and jiggle while in plate? or Mail? /ponders.
8.) dumbed down use of food buff….fish feast go…zzzzzzzzzzz. why bother lvling cooking when you can just eat a fish feast.
9.) Bosses/instances that are no longer viable….waste of game space…..
10.) Needs more training in the lower levels to teach people on how to play their damned job. I know the LFG tool helps I think…But yeah people need to learn…too many people at 80…who cant move from a fire on a regular basis.
11.) trade chat being used for conversation….drives me up the wall……and yes I do disable it most of the time.
Going back to Lyssi’s blog she typed out the keys she used for the most part in her rotation, and for her that works. Looking back on this, I think Ari mentioned one time she has her mouse and key binds setup in a way that works for her. Tir is a clicker/macro guy. (correct me if I am wrong Tir!)
We all setup our UI’s and keybinds in ways that work and make sense for us. As much as I tease Lyssi about the way she setup her buttons, they work and make sense to her.
Muscle memory is very important and allows us to do things without thinking. Put me in front of Tir’s setup and I think I would fail till i got used to it.
My current setup is very similar to my FFXI setup. Although FFXI did not use the (1 – =) setup. Many of the abilites are also setup as mouse over macros. Point and click..whack a mole version 2.0.
1 – Flash of Light
2 – Holy Light
3 – Holy Shock
4 – Judgement
5 – Divine Plea
6 – Avenging Wrath
7 – Arcane Torrent
8 – = I don’t remember off the top of my head…but they are not very important, mostly things like Holy Wrath and Hammer of the Righteous (the stun one)
Alt 1 – Divine favor
Alt 2 – Divine Illumination
Alt 3 – Beacon (Bacon) of Light
Alt 4 – Divine Shield
Alt 5 – Lay on Hands
Ctrl 1 – Talisman of Resurgence
Ctrl 2 – Hand of Freedom
Ctrl 3 – that threat reducing blessing
Ctrl 4 and 5 – someting not important like a res spell and some undead turn spell.
With Clique – Alt and left Click is Cleanse
Ctrl and left Click is BoP
With the way things are setup it is easy to still move and cast as needed. Unneeded looking for keys are eliminated for me at least. The priest is setup in the same fashion. Combined with my UI (Kitty UI – wow interface, check it out) makes it very easy to see what is up and keeps meh buttons nice and neat and lined up and organized. I do admit, abilities not commonly used I do not even bother to place on keys.
KB are setup in order of most commonly used to least used.
This setup works for me. Everyone keybinds/macros/add-ons differently and in their own fashion. Some like grid + clique + mouseover macros. some like decursive, other Vuhdo. X-perl. So many different options.
Is there “the most efficient” way to KB and macro??? Best way to UI??? If there is an answer out there someone please advise
I don’t really have much to say…as Arioch already said. I am lacking as far as WoW stuffs etc. Other then the same old random, dailys etc.
All I will say is something good happened.
Work is busy but I dont mind.
In my 30 years of life…(yes I am old…well i think 30 is old). I have to quite a few places that I have really enjoyed!!
1.) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This was a Spring Break Trip my sophmore year at Denison University…yeah so…let just keep it at that. Good times…lots of booze etc.
2.) Rome, Italy. It was ok. It was kind of crowded, as I went during the pope’s world jubilee or something World Youth Day? My mom thought it would be a good idea. It was fun looking at all the old things etc. The Coliseum is freaking awesome. Food was good, wine was good. The bad…people not using showers or deodorant…
3.) Seoul, South Korea – now these trips are ok…cannot really cut loose as it is visiting fanily…if you have the chance to go. I recommend it, Seoul is a fun place to visit.
4.) Tokyo, Japan…one word amazing. I had an awesome time there!. Great sake, ramen, sushi. karaoke! And MAID CAFES!
Ok in mmo’s there are places that I have visited in game that have made me go…wow…
1.) This is more of a recent visit….The Frozen Throne…if you have not had the chance to get there…DO IT!! So worth it….
2.) Zoning into Jeuno for the 1st time. Getting there for the 1st time is an adventure! Avoiding angry tigers, goblins and undead….scary!!!
3.) Although I hate all short people (gnomes, halflings, hobbits) Lord of the Rings, represenation of the Shire is executed very well. Quests here vary but the more amusing one is delivering food and avoiding hungry NPC Hobbits lol.
4.) The starting zone for both factions in Aion….jaw dropping. capital city…jaw dropping….Aion…hands down…very beautiful game. Too bad too many things that preventing if from being great.
5.) Warhammer online…my favorite zone – Avalorn. The dense forest, the whole feeling. Done very well. It just feels like what an elf zone should be lol. Silvermoon does not compare imo.
and random things
THE WORST DRIVE-THRU MEAL IN AMERICA
Carl’s Jr. Double Six Dollar Burger
with Medium Natural cut Fries and 32 oz Coke
144 g fat (51.5 g saturated fat)
2892 mg sodium
Of all the gut-growing, heart-stopping, life-threatening burgers in the fast food world, there is none whose damage to your general well-being is as catastrophic as this. Consider these heart-stopping comparisons: This meal has the caloric equivalent of 13 Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donuts; the saturated fat equivalent of 52 strips of bacon; and the salt equivalent of seven and a half large orders of McDonald’s French fries!
Also last night marked the return of my buddy Delerius to raiding!! Welcome back bud!
Here I am at work, on a freakin Sat. SOOOO grumpy. Saturday’s people are extra whiny and extra annoying. Cut me some slack gere people…. things open during the week will not normally be open on a weekend. Deal with it. QQing me a river wont help you out.
Anyways….while sitting here…Sats are quiet and most just for taking phone calls, it does allow me the chance to catch up on something…Critical QQ’s fire and frost guide….good read if you havent had the chance to read them.
“KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!” lol genius.
He also had this little gem hiding out in there. This should help bleach out all the belf and nelf pron Ari has been posting lately
Arioch over at Clearcasting and Koalabear over at DotsandHots, have some good posts touching on this. Ty over at 1377Bohica also talks about this as well.
RP or roleplaying for short. For some it is a dirty phrase never to be mentioned while talking about WoW. While for others it is just another aspect to a game they enjoy they play. For those who are not used to it…from the outside looking in…it really does appear to be quite strange and alien. Besides that for some poeple they think RP means talking dirty etc etc.
“Normal Person”: OMF WTF ARE YOU 2 talking bout! lol L2talk normally!!!
“RP’er”: Look hither its a talking gorilla. By a dragon’s burning breath this world is truly amazing”
Why do people do this? Who knows..personally I would think it is rather difficult to raid and RP or even RP and play an MMO. Playing a pencil and paper RPG is definitely the ideal venue for RP’ing. It forces one to put oneself into character and use your mind’s eye rather then your eyes. Other may disagree with this, but this is what I think. I tried RP once…it was taxing and distracting. Power to those who can do it though.
Anyways, back the main topic. Does your character and other alts have different personalites from your own? Do you have a back story in place? Specifc hates and dislikes? Do they wear certain pieces of gear? A favorite color? Food? Favorite place to hang out in town?
Arioch has mentioned her stable of foxtailed blood elves all seem to have differnt personalities and traits that make them their own. go check out her post on it, very good read. (I cannot see Arioch – giving anyone a flower etc….And Tatia I see rather punching someone…in the arm)
Also Ty mentioned his 3 character each have their own story and background.
I myself just made a character and hit enter world. I admit i pick a chacater cause I like the way they look, not for a distinct reason or RP flavor. If i am going to look at something for hours up on end…might as well be nice looking. *shrugs* I do not have a particular attitude or personality for my characters.
I will admit…when I make characters I may tend to roll them on RP servers. I do it to avoid general chat morons. It seems to me…they are not as annoying on those servers. I still have one on Feathermoon in fact. My now deleted hunter was on Sisters of Elune.
1st off….my internet connection at home has been acting up…will work fine and then shutoff. Unplug the nodem and router for a few minutes, hook everything back up and boom back in business. Now I do not mind doing this, but when it has been 2-3 times a week…not cool.
Thank goodness we had enough people left to do the weekly quest on 10 man (killing XT). Now that was a fun time…was expecting a nice easy mode….but things do not always go to plan.
Engage XT, his heart appears…DPS does their thing…next thing…STOP DPS…doh not soon enough….HARD MODE IKE! (Lyssi more wanding less DoTing ) Only thing i could think of saying at the time was “F*ck!” lol sorry for the potty mouth.
Sorak and I were on heals…kept everyone alive. The fight was definitely longer. Soth had to call out for an invenerate XD. I admit i did get tunnelvisioned a bit…didnt move light spark out super fast. Sorry about that. Also the raid wide dmg from tantrum was kinda annoying. Not having a pld to Divine Sacrifice was noticible. Divine Hymn, Pain Suppression = thank goodness.
Hmmmm. Shadow Rising went into ICC again last night. Downed Rotface, Prof…still refusing to die (again, he is undead, so maybe umm…not sure).
We also tried out the Frost and Blood Wings.
The dreamwalker fight…I am thinking maybe i should be taken out for this fight. I cannot put out the high HPS needed for this fight. Paladins, Duids, Shamans are much better for this it appears. We managed to get it to 70% before the adds overwhelmed and killed us. The issue with me going holy is I am not used to it…should run more 5 mans with it. Funny thing is, Holy is what i started with.
In the videos i have watched they had a holy priest…not sure what I am doing wrong. FH or Binding Heal to get Serendipity up and then Greater Heal and refresh renew.
In the Bloodwing…after a few tries…finally killed the princes. 3 tanks, 3 healers. It was a long fight, but pulled thru, even with one d/c. A lot of the incidental damage that killed us before was avoided for the most part. In the end 2 tanks did go down…that room is large. (Holy might have been better as well, the hits in there are large and even shielding a non tank didnt seem to do much, they popped the shield like it was nothing.)
I was assigned to Ti, who was on the shadow dude. Tel and Hex were on Dozzer (big hits dude) and Soth (fire dude). There were some close calls, but we pulled thru in the end. It felt like i was constantly casting….non stop. except for times when i had to chase a tank down *stares Ti* or run to another one, throw a shield on them and cast a hasted FH.
Onto Bloodqueen…trash was nasty as usual. The Queen herself…lots of dmgs…wasnt expecting it to hit that fast. That raid wide DoT is nasty. 4k every 2 sec. Having a druid here might help out a lot.
I did say healers stay spead out….cause when the fire thing hits…dont want to leave it near the group (when the queen fears people, dont want people running in it). In the center, i think you will want to leave it open for people to get together from that beam attack. I should have elaborated it to stay near the innercircle.
The Queen fight reminds me a lot of the Kirin “burn” method.
Kirin in FFXI is a giant chimera. Only has about 56k HP but has a massive regen buff.
Old method to killing Kirin – 24 poeple needed. 3 parties in the main alliance, and 1 party for adds. And other misc people to SUB in as people die.
When you 1st spawn Kirin – tanks must kite him around the room. Kirin will cast AoE Stonega IV which will one shot people. Also Great Typhoon will cause more dmg the closer you are to him. Also his physical attack hits hard, and hit other physical attack “Deadly Hold” will one shot tanks. DD need to let tank generate hate/threat on him while kiting. (nin/drk or pld/nin are the tanks for choice). The DD trail behind the mob to hit Kirin and build up TP (TP is needed to use weapon skills). The DD then announce and skillchain with another DD to make a skilchain which will cause an elemental effect onto Kirin causing add’l dmgs and also allowing the Black Mages to cast the approp spell to cause even more dmgs. Now when the skill chain happens….the tank need to stay still for a bit…so people need to be fast! He will also pop spawns that need to be killed by the off pty. Also when people die. they need to be res’d and pull away to allow for res sickness to wear. All in all if things go well can take 30 min or so….if not so hot….1 hr fights is not common….I have kited him for 45+ min before…not fun.
18 people. 3 healers, 3 bards, 12 DD (DPS). Bard rotate in the parties to cast buffs, Haste, attack, and accuracy. They will use their 2 hour ability to make them stronger and a 10 min ability to make the buffs last longer. As the bards rotate throuout the parties…every member should have 6 songs. DPS will eat approp food. Kirin is popped. Everyone burns cooldowns, healers will stil cast haste on the DPS as well and heal, DPS will need to sub ninja or samurai for some sort of dmg mitigation. When Kirin uses his i kill you abillity (Astral Flow), the healers have a few seconds to cast the correct elemental resistance spell, if you dont kill him fast enough, after Astral Flow he should be dead. With this method should take no longer then 2 min top (haste from a healer lasts about 2 min 30 seconds).
The Kirin Burn method reminds me of the Bloodqueen fight – its fast and nasty. Do as much DPS as you can before the timer. Although Kirin is a lot nicer…he doesnt seem to use AoE that much, and doesnt have a raid wide DoT.
Onto my next project….DPS i admit…in WoW at least…I dont like it very much…on my ret pally…I know it is not geared yet…but it is ranging from 1300-1800 blah imo. tanking is kinda a pain…not used to it…and all this multimobbing. Mixed group types….ewwww.
I am seriously thinking leveling up one of each healer. Resto shaman and druid, and gearing out the paladin with a holy spec. I kinda get healing…although i feel I can be better. (#7 for Yogg–Saron is not good enough for me )
Basically it is calling for positive dingeon finder group stories……
The more popular side of this topic is the horror stories brought about by people who speak like the below gif.
I have seen numerous posts about these hidden idiots, but I can honestly say….for the most part…I have NOT found a single moron? Are they an endangered species? I have seen people act somewhat dumb…..but never to the point where I would consider them to be “short-bus” special level. Where are these people who are SOOOOOO BAD that they inspire people to write 2500 words posts
Example of people come close to be “short-bus” worthy
- Level 80 lock (GS of 4800 ish) in a random daily with the rest of the group ranging from 76-79 in Gundrak. Pulled only 2300 DPS or so. Liked to use the firerain spell only and did not have a pet out.
- Can not remember the Druid’s name but it was something lame. Would only heal me the tank and himself and let the mage, lock (Lyssi) die numerous time in DTK. Eventially booted him and got a freakin awesome druid.
- Me as a Prot Pally forgetting to use Righteous Fury….”Damn why is my threat so low…why is Lyssi taking punches to the face by the troll?!?!?!” “Slice do you have fury on…” “Ummmm…no…” Now Lyssi goes – Aura?, Right Fury? before Qing up.
My favorite experience in the random finder was a pre 80 group in “normal” Halls of Stone.
Group: Me as prot pally, lyssi as lock, 2 enhancement shamans, and 1 resto druid.
We all enter buff up and etc. I mention I am not used to Prot, the rest understood. The druid kicked ass, as did the 2 enh shamans. Run went off with a hitch and no wipe etc. People were courteous. DPS rocked, things died fast. I bet the druid and shamans were surprised a tank was worred about their mana.
Afterwards, the druid said thank you and left group, Lyssi, the 2 enh shamans, and I said some more thank you etc. Just needed a campfire and would could have made smores and sang koombaya. The 2 shaman, seemed to be fromt the same guild and also trolls, maybe a husband and wife team? no idea. Normally i die a little when i see HoS now. But that one restored my faith in it…a little. :p
Why are we drawn to the more negative things in life? We like to pick at scabs. We slow down whenever we see a car accident. When the news is on…how many stories are actually positive…i bet ya not too many. Look at the rise of some reality TV shows…horrible people doing horrible things on TV. Why as human beings are we so keen on holding onto the negaive?
Interesting article. Guess we are really like rats!
Edit: By the way…Zug’s Grandma is the most intimidating member of person known to SR members.
Ok 2nd character is almost to 80, wooo!!! Now the seond time through WoW has been a very different experience, but these 2 characters Liyhe, and Orangeslice were not my 1st characters.
WAYYYY back when WoW first came out I bought the collectors edition, cause a friend from college convinced me to play. (When I buy games…I will ussually opt for the bigger, shinier stuffs)
Installed the game….and waited….waited…waited….for it update and let me log in. I log in and immediately make a Horde character, my friend is playing horde so i was kinda stuck, but i did not mind. Undead are cool, Horde is cool, and Thrall owns.
So I roll up and undead male Warlock named Khalad. (he is no longer in esistance…he is deleted….kinda regret it though). The 1st undead town was cool looking (to a very new WoW player), quest givers all over the place. Go kill this….grumble…go fetch this for me….blarg….here is your imp…an imp….geee thanks….go and kill some more things…here is your Voidwalker…ok back then it was freakin sweet.
Blueberry I choose you!!. Go kill that mob, while I DoT it, shadowbolt it…and hack at it…yes I did not know any better I meleed with a sword as well…LOL. I think I got bored of the game and the lock around lvl 16. (I was still a hardcore FFXI player at the time and did not have time to devote to 2 MMO’s so goodbye WoW after the 30 day free trial). I think I also tried out a Taruen Warrior (Thormgrim), Gnome mage (yes i know, I was drunk i think when i created it), and a NE Druid. These characters I have no idea which server they were on.
Time goes by and I am browsing thru my local gamestop….and a green box with the words “Burning and Crusade” on it, falling for its evil trap I note is says new races!!! Space goats and ELVES!! For the horde side….ok win…must buy…I happily pay the employee 30 and i gleefully go and reinstall WoW and the new expansion…..made 2 characters immediately to try out the new races. Blood Elf hunter named – Liyhe, and a Dranei Paladin – Kurik (I am not totally sure on the name) – these were made on Sister of Elune if I remember correctly.
I got the space goat about the 24…before I got sick auto attacking to kill stuffs. The hunter interested me as my favorite job in FFXI is ranger. The pet companent was interesting as well. SO excited when got my 1st pet…got one of those Sabrertooth tigers around Tranquilen. Well my interest in WoW did not last once again and Hunter only made it to 24.
A few months later i tried again and rolled a space goat priest, I dont remember her name (Salathera?)…but the waggle was the bomb. Anyways..that character lasted till about 35 ish?
My intial expeditaions into WoW were shortlived and noob filled…my specs would make Conan and Crom cry. It would cause oceans to recede, and babies to turn into stone. I think my intial tries with WoW would have been sucessful if there was a decent guild to join.
Ok WoW faded from memory and the collectors box and BC box gathered dust. Until a few months ago…I think it was around August or Sept…I was bored of FFXI…a friend in the Columbus area, he convinced me to play WoW again and roll a Priest on Uther….I rolled one up…Belf of course onry. It was in this latest try where i found all the damn WoW sites and blogs…i was hooked…my friends then quit…and i was at 67ish..i quit for month…came back and powered my way till 80.
Looked around blogs and located Clearcasting and Shadow Rising (also thru Ari’s blog…located Lyss’s blog or was that thru Rivs blog?)
The rest is history as one could say.
