Stealing inspiration from my buddy Arvash!
In the new Mist of Pandaria expansion, Druids will be getting a new spell called Symbiosis, which will allow them to “trade” a spell with another player, based on the player’s class and combat role and the Druid’s specialization.
So my question is, if you could have any spell you want from any other class, current spells or new ones in MoP, what would it be? How would you work it into your rotation, gameplay, etc.?
The one spell for my Priest Liyhe would have to be a Battle Rez! It would be nice to have one, because lets face it, how many DK’s save up their runic power or how many people actually raid with warlocks? (They smell like imp poo!)
Other notable mentions:
Travel Form – but instead of a cheetah or a stag – a unicorn! lol
Healing Shrooms – but instead of making a smurf village – make a bunch of heretics burning at the stake!
Summon Ghoul/Demon/pet etc – Angels!
But to expand upon Arv’s initial question if I could have an ability from any MMO, it would be simple. From FFXI:
And it’s upgraded version:
I don’t really tank in WoW, it’s too much work! However, I did tank as a ninja in FFXI.
Now the ninja in FFXI originally was not thought out by Square Enix to be a tank. It the players who made the ninja into a tank.
Now to be a ninja tank in FFXI, you needed good gear, and the ability to time your casts well. If you were good xping was easy street, get a bad one and it was painful. A good one would only get hit maybe a few times here and there, a bad one was worth then a noob DK tank in Hellfire Ramparts.
It was simple, when you had both versions of the spell – Ichi – took about 4-5 sec to cast, Ni was almost instant cast.
1.) Prepull – cast Utsusemi:Ni – if you were main job ninja - you got 4 shadows
2.) As the mob s beating on you – keep track of how many shadows you have left, before the last one is gone, start casting Utsusei:Ichi so the last Ni shadow would go before Ichi finishes casting. But if for some reason the mob misses your shadow, or you dodge, one had to cancel the last shadow from Ni. Why you ask? Because Ichi cannot overwrite Ni, while Ni could overwrite Ichi shadows.
3.) While doing this you had to make sure maintain threat – by using your WS when poss, and other ninjitsu spells as needed.
Hmmmm….I guess so….
Guess that is why I play Priests and pallys in WoW….
BTW gonna kick Sorak’s and Rep’s arse this weekend in a 7 person Magic draft. Innistrad block!
First off my beloved priests, our T13. I am not sure about it. I really like T12 so far. T13 reminds me of Holloween and mardi gras. Well with Transmog, it’s a moot point.
The bonuses for t13:
- Healer, 2P — After using Power Infusion or Lightwell, the mana cost of your healing spells is reduced by 25% for [10|15] sec. (10 sec for Discipline, 15 for non–Discipline.)
- Healer, 4P — Your Power Word: Shield has a 10% chance to absorb 100% additional damage, and the cooldown of your Holy Word abilities is reduced by 20%.
- Shadow, 2P — Shadow Word: Death deals an additional 55% damage, and you no longer take damage from your own Shadow Word: Death when the target fails to die.
- Shadow, 4P — Your Shadowfiend and Shadowy Apparitions have a 100% chance to grant you 3 Shadow Orbs each time they deal damage.
For healers: I am not sold on the 2P, especially as Holy. But it could be worse. For 4P – one word: blarg.
Shadow definitely wins out here. To be honest I would not be surprised to see it altered in some form before final release.
The changes to Holy for 4.3 are a step in the right direction – the changes to Divine Hymn and the ability to strenthen it and lessen its cooldown is quite nice. Its also nice to see they are fixing atonement to take into account large hitboxes (Beth’Tilac, and Rag made atonement useless)
The changes to Wild Growth were surprising to me.
•Wild Growth healing value has been reduced by 20%.
•Glyph of Wild Growth now also increases the cooldown on Wild Growth by 2 seconds.
Straight up nerf to druids? Why? Sure they are healing beasts, but does not make them seem OP or anything. It’s the player playing the class which makes it’s good, not the class. bad player still means bad druids.
Paladin’s also got some changes – no more mana from judging…they have to use spirit more. Why? Maybe someone can answer this, but are there low spirit paladins out there? (I know as disc i reforged a bunch of it away)
Other things that caught my eye was the new mounts.
Dancing Darkmoon bear! yes, please!
Also I know I should not have looked at it, but I could not help but look at the dungeon jounrnal preview for the new raid.
A few things caught my eye.
1.) Looks like a lot of damage sharing, so stacking…(SR we are screwed)
2.) Other mechanics where the raid may have to use the boss’ own abilities against it.
3.) Thrall as Earth Warden? not surprised really.
4.) Tyrande of the past…hawt….hopefully they will also make this her in game model. It’s quite impressive looking.
ok…I know others have made posts about ways to get to your blog…thought I would share some…
1.) sexy space marine – Space marines…sexy? Not sure if they belong in the same search term lol.
2.) 4.2 disc reforging…ok this i can touch on
I like to think of it was int/spirit (play around to find where you are comfortable)/haste/mastery crit
Now this is not set in stone – this will depend on your preference on playstyle and your raid composition.
Int is important/king obviously.
Spirit is up in the air – mana regen is important, but how much do you need? too much and you lose out on troughput stats you could be going for. too little and you wont last the fight. (personally, i think i may reforge some of mine away – gonna overhaul gems/reforging tonight)
Mastery – probably out biggest thorn in our side. It helps our niche well (damage mitigation) but at the same only effects a few of our spells – Power Word: Shield and Divine Aegis.
Crit – unreliable at best. With the change to crit heals it makes it appear to be very desirable on paper..but in reality don’t gem/enchant/reforge for it.
Haste – a nice throuput stat. Helps to push out those heals, PoH’s faster etc. However, haste does this at the cost of your mana pool. Watch the mana consumption.
When you take into account of raid size – 25 or 10 man. Your choices can deviate farther. in 25 man you may have the chance to specialize in your role – straight up PoH machine (haste), or tank healer (mastery). Also buffs you maybe missing in 10 you will more then likely have in 25 man raids.
What is in your healing team?
10 man – disc/rdruid/hpally – with the holy focusing on tanks and resto on the raid you may find yourself with a balance of three. In 10′s there will be lots of crosshealing as well.
10 man – disc/rsham/hpally – see above, but with a bit more raid healing.
10 man – disc/hpriest/hpally – once again see above disc/rdruid/hpally.
3.) funeral pyre or smoldering censer of purity for a disc priest?
My personal preference would be the Censer – haste would be better – especially if your OS is holy or shadow. Although you could reforce some of the crit on the Pyre – meh. Also with the spirit on the Censer one could play around with it if you have too much spirit and want to dump it.
I was once a Holy Priest for part of Wrath and at the beginning of Cata, but once again a bubble priest again.
I will admit though, Holy is what I leveled as with my priest and I still get the itch to pick it up back again.
However, what prevents me from doing is too me, Holy seems lacking.
1.) spirit – no spirit gear in firelands. t12 only for holy priests. Spirit is the main way holy priests get man back. Sure there are potions and hymn of hope and shadow fiend, but other then that there is no other way the priest by themselves to regen mana. They do not have rapture, revitalize, judgements etc.
2.) Because of their jack of all trades nature – they take the brunt of the I am not specialized enough tag. Sure they can tank heal in a pinch or raid heal well. They still do not seem to do as well as their more specialized counterparts. They dip into the pool but never fully dive in. When you take a Holy Pally as a tank healer and a resto druid as a raid healer, why would you take a Holy Priest? Why not take a Disco and mitigate some of the dmg instead. Or take a shaman for Bloodlust, Sprit Link totem, and Manatide totem.
3.) No real “oh shit” button. Guardian Spirit is nice, but not when you compare it to Tranq, PW:B, or Spirit Link Totem. Lightwell is a extra healing tool, not a “save” imo.
I think Holy Priests, need something to help with mana, sure then burst HPS high real fast, but then have no gas in the tank left. They need some kind of mechanic like Rapture etc to help them out. To be honest, AA/atonement makes more sense to me to be in the holy tree, while Body and soul and Inspiration should be in the disc tree.
Ok to be fair to our holy brethren – issues with Disc.
1.) We are great at mitigating dmg, but playing catch up REAL fast can be an issue sometimes.
2.) We are mitigators, so why is our mastery not tied to a majority of our heals? Why not have a shield with a cast time that mitigates less then PW:S? Or perhaps every time PoM jumps it adds a shield much like PoH does? Or just change the Disc priest mastery to the Holy pally mastery and give holy pallys something that make sense.
3.) Swap some of the talents between Holy and Disc that make sense. Some of the disc talents make sense in holy and vice versa.
But 1st and foremost – help our Holy brethren and to a lesser extent our resto shaman brothers and sisters.
After a bit of problems with the computer…for some reason it was not showing the 2nd video card, and a ongoing lag problem last night, the pally finally hit 85. Feels odd, Orangeslice literally had NO issues with questing in the highlands like Liyhe did. My priest pulled more then 1-2 mobs and it was priest pate.
All I have to say is leveling in a tank spec and being able to burn down multiple mobs speeds things up tremendously. (Also having Mr Popularity rank 2 and a buttload of rested XP never hurts as well!) Getting 9-11k XP for a mob and 9-10k xp for a mining node is a bit ridiculous.
Now that the pally is 85…time to run dungeons and gear up! Woot!~ my favorite thing to do.
But first most time to fix the prot spec and the holy spec.
Snooping around at other Paladins – think I will go with this for Holy.
For Prot…there is a lot of variety lol it appears. Playaround with the talents I am coming up with this.
I am not to certain on this one…but the increased range of judgements seems odd and not needed, so the chance to reflect magic seems better. Reckoning seems lol. And Grand Crusader maxed odd does not seem to be needed, as the extra proc would get in the way of generating holy power.
Are you going to head straight and smite evil?
Or are you the money type and will sit back, level some professions and let the others fight first?
Maybe perhaps you will start over from level one once the Cataclysm hits? Playing a Alpo fueled Worgen, or a crafty lil’ green skin? (WAGHHHH!!! errr wrong game) Epic-haired Blood Elf Warrior, or a Sun touched priest or paladin?
Perhaps you will take a walk in your enemies shoes and swap faction? For the emperor….errr the alliance! (I had to slip in a Imp. Guard or Space Marine reference in there!)
I know myself, I will be walking the path of getting to 85 as fast as I can and raid ASAP. (Liyhe – sigh, no break for me!)
For my other toons, I think I will slow it down and take my time to see what the new Cata zones in their entirety.
On a differnt note: I am glad to see some of the changes in the world, it brings life back to an otherwise, totally under utilized portion of Azeroth. It was a very good idea on Blizzard’s part to being it back to the “old” school world. Bring back the Warcraft universe back to its origins: Orcs vs Humans. (Horde bs Alliance) Things were getting a little too buddy buddy. Eventually it may have to be that way, but for now, this is a good way to get back to the original conflict. (although, Garrosh still needs to DIAF!)
I don’t know how to describe it. I still like WoW and raiding, but maybe I am getting healing burn out?
Ok dmg incoming…heal, heal, bubble, bubble. Heal, heal, bubble, bubble.
Holy Paladin Healing
/flails about. Holy Paladin feels awkward and not as satisfying anymore. /huddles in the corner and laments the loss of the “old” Holy Light.
Every fight in ICC (with exception of LK) is predictible and healing them are not “challenging” anymore (heroic modes are another matter, and no Lootship does not count). The feeling of danger and OMFG moments are not there anymore. (I guess that is the price of outgearing content). I still enjoy healing a lot, but the thrill is gone.
I find myself liking DPS more and more. Maybe i will get a ret spec again for my pally. What I really want is a rogue or a ranged DPS…hmmm maybe it is time to lvl one or two.
So how was your WoW week after the 4.0 patch?
Like many others, like every major patch my UI was in ruins….no wait….it was a molten mess of primordial goo.
No DBM AHHH, panals all in the wrong places, millions of errors/bugs all over.
Thank goodness for those addon elves as the UI appears to be ok now. There are a few errors here and there, but the UI is not angry at me.
Going from Grid to VuhDo for my paladin and priest was weird….more so on the priest then the pally.
For my priest and pally I had gotten very accustomed to the look of Grid and the way I had it setup. With the patch and Grid being blah. I loaded VuhDo (I use VuhDo on my Druid, and prefer it to Grid). With the pally I got very comfortable to using VuhDo.
The issue for my paladin is getting used to have more toys to play with. Word of Glory, the OMG AoE heal spell (do not recall the name), and the big bomb (Divine Word). Also sad…Holy Light is just soooo meh. The shorter ranged judgement was weird as well. Also Crusader Strike??? huh??? Holy Power??? I just have to remember to use the holy power at times.
With my Priest…zomg it took sometime getting used to VuhDo. I have to say it is nice with VuhDo that it has built in Clique for your needs. The biggest thing to get used to for me was the different icons for PW:S and Weakened Soul.
Alas for the priest…getting used to the new changes to Borrowed Time (I had to reforge some gear to drop some crit and get some haste) and new abilities blah! I am not a fan of heal…its slow and don’t heal crap (sounds familiar…kinda like Holy Light). Power Word: Barrier – looks like a giant yellow nipple on the ground. LOL. Overall….Disc seems clunky and unwieldy.
The new glyph system is money. I am a big fan of it. About time.
It also seems that to me at least that – tanks don’t seem as durable???
