First off my beloved priests, our T13. I am not sure about it. I really like T12 so far. T13 reminds me of Holloween and mardi gras. Well with Transmog, it’s a moot point.
The bonuses for t13:
- Healer, 2P — After using Power Infusion or Lightwell, the mana cost of your healing spells is reduced by 25% for [10|15] sec. (10 sec for Discipline, 15 for non–Discipline.)
- Healer, 4P — Your Power Word: Shield has a 10% chance to absorb 100% additional damage, and the cooldown of your Holy Word abilities is reduced by 20%.
- Shadow, 2P — Shadow Word: Death deals an additional 55% damage, and you no longer take damage from your own Shadow Word: Death when the target fails to die.
- Shadow, 4P — Your Shadowfiend and Shadowy Apparitions have a 100% chance to grant you 3 Shadow Orbs each time they deal damage.
For healers: I am not sold on the 2P, especially as Holy. But it could be worse. For 4P – one word: blarg.
Shadow definitely wins out here. To be honest I would not be surprised to see it altered in some form before final release.
The changes to Holy for 4.3 are a step in the right direction – the changes to Divine Hymn and the ability to strenthen it and lessen its cooldown is quite nice. Its also nice to see they are fixing atonement to take into account large hitboxes (Beth’Tilac, and Rag made atonement useless)
The changes to Wild Growth were surprising to me.
•Wild Growth healing value has been reduced by 20%.
•Glyph of Wild Growth now also increases the cooldown on Wild Growth by 2 seconds.
Straight up nerf to druids? Why? Sure they are healing beasts, but does not make them seem OP or anything. It’s the player playing the class which makes it’s good, not the class. bad player still means bad druids.
Paladin’s also got some changes – no more mana from judging…they have to use spirit more. Why? Maybe someone can answer this, but are there low spirit paladins out there? (I know as disc i reforged a bunch of it away)
Other things that caught my eye was the new mounts. :)
Dancing Darkmoon bear! yes, please!
Also I know I should not have looked at it, but I could not help but look at the dungeon jounrnal preview for the new raid.
A few things caught my eye.
1.) Looks like a lot of damage sharing, so stacking…(SR we are screwed)
2.) Other mechanics where the raid may have to use the boss’ own abilities against it.
3.) Thrall as Earth Warden? not surprised really.
4.) Tyrande of the past…hawt….hopefully they will also make this her in game model. It’s quite impressive looking.

remove DK’s from WoW…just kidding! I like the class as a whole.
In my guild, it pretty common to have a 5 man with a healer, and 4 dk’s or 3 dk’s…
On the outside…ok this is awesome!
Let me state from experience…it is not as fun as it sounds.
From my own taxing experiences…the damage Dk’s take is proportional the amount of DK’s in your group.
Heavyarms (Arv), Cayle (Sorak), Zevaris (zug), Arelin (repgrind)…I am scared to heal all of them once in a 5 man.
They must have a unknown debuff – Drives ‘em Crazy – Causes your healer to panic and go mad. Cause soul break to your healer.
HAHA in all fairness it is funny and amusing when they all get together. :)
Last night’s raid was a different story…10 wipes on a boss that is on farm normally? Omnotron? Not sure what happened there….oh yeah slimes didnt die, etc etc. Oh well. Still one shotted Magmaw, and Chim. Atra seems a little wonky as well. oh well! everyone raid has an off night from time to time. :) (and I forgot to swap to Holy for Atra – fail priest!)
The pain is still there. My soul is still shattered. My heart a withered shell of what it once was. My cuts are still bleeding. The light has abandoned me.

Ok…it was not that bad….oh wait it was….Usually when i run a gulld Grim Batol, it is quite easy and I dont have to drink or have mana issues.
When you have a group makeup of THREE Deathknights, and one prot warrior and one disc priest, apparently hillarity ensues.
I guess all the plate pulls the brain matter from their skulls to somewhere else…like the epeen.
Plate = tank…so we DKs are plate wearers….ok to tank!
But I digress, it was not so much as they were trying to tank…they just didnt watch threat I think? or watch for bad…or whatever lol. At times it was quite amusing, I have to admit. They were flashing death meters from Recount.
What really made me laugh was when they would survive a wipe…they would call themself – “THE BESTEST DK EVA!” LOLOLOLOL!!!1111
On that note I don’t think I ever saw Cayle (aka Sorak) survive a whole fight? Maybe one or two?
I have to admit, I pulled a page from the Tattia Healing Playbook…let people die!
It was not easy to heal….especially with the forgemaster….when he puts bad on the ground…aka fire…in his mace phase…..having all melee dps….not fun…..
If you now excuse me…I will be super glueing the remnants of my soul back together.
I have now had the chance to run a few more Heroics with the guildees, and I have to admit kudos to Blizzard on the difficulty and challenge of healing them.
To date I have run Grim Batol, Stonecore, Throne of Tides, Deadmines, and Vortex Pinnacle (a portion of it). the LFD tool only seems to like these Heroics lol.
I have to say Heroic Grim Batol can be brutal on a new group, and a new healer.
The “gauntlets” in Throne of Tides can quickly sap a healer’s mana pool.
Deadmines….actually is not too bad. Trash/bosses are easier than the other Heroics in my opinion, but Deadmines hands down is probably the funnest one. Great RP, setting, and characters.
(Now I have only run these as a guild group, so I cannot speak of the horrors or pain that it is dealing with PuGs. Also I am a holy priest now, I have turned away from the cult of the bubble and have seen the light(well))
All I can say is mana regen helps a lot! Many of these fights will last sometime, so having as much mana regen as you can help out, but make sure you still have the stats to throw out worth while healing.
Also make sure to use all tools available to you to help out with incidental dmg, the days of just topping people off are gone.
I will admit, I was did laugh at the idea of the Lightwell, but now it is an invaluable tool in my healing tool set. My guildees have learned to use it and watch for it. Precast it before a fight, it doesn’t pull aggro. This will help people see where you have placed it! Make sure to have a macro for it as well, to announce that you are placing it down.
Learn the fight and expect when heavy dmg is incoming. People having a hard time getting to a safe spot. Cast a bubble on them for the speed boost from Body and Soul. Or hell Life grip em errr Leap of Faith. (I was a real hater on this…but I admit, in certain situations it has been useful as hell!) Heavy tank dmg, get some serendipity stacks ready. Cast your Greater Heal after the Holy Word: Serenity for that extra crit chance. Also remember you LOCK imp poop…errr LOCK CANDY. Saved my butt more than once.
Don’t be cheap, enchant, reforge, gem. A.K.A. E-R-G
If you are having a hard time with a heroic, maybe its time to look into ERG. Or perhaps stop hoarding that JP and buy some gear, or look into Reputation vendors.
But foremost to remember is: knowledge is power, use it. There are many sources out there to get info from, no excuse not to use it.
Also remember to have FUN!
Cata is now into week 2, more people are now 85 and hitting the dungeons.
I think my gear is ok…a few pieces here or there could be better, but theoretically I could jump into Heroics.
What is stopping me from jumping in head first?
1.) The few normals I have run as a healer were guild runs and the 1 random, I did had a group of people accustomed to the new Cata style and things went smoothly. Other than that, the horror stories about the LFD pool is making me think the headache and repair bill is not worth it. (Mine own experience in Heroic Deadmines with a PuG tank….needs more booze)
2.) The healing style I grew to love in Wrath, just does not cut it. Discipline – does not have the punch to keep things in check. If something goes wrong, someone stands in bad “by accident”, mobs CC gets broken, and people get face owned…..Disc does not have the same oomph it had to push things through. Disc is all about dmg mitigation, and the main source of this PW:S is not longer viable due to a couple of things. A.) mana cost and B.) it gets popped so easily now.
You maybe thinking, “But Slice! Prayer of Healing now procs DA 100% of the time!” Sure it does…but the with the actual amount that PoH heals…the bubbles it creates…they do not absorb all that much.
Power Word: Barrier and Pain Suppression are a very sexy spell duo indeed. But again even with these cooldowns…you are still lacking in the HEALING DEPT.
1.) Heal seem meh….
2.) Flash Heal….can heal for a lot, but will leave you sapped.
3.) A Borrowed Time + Greater Heal can be nice…but still will leave ya gasping for mana.
4.) Prayer of Healing – DA procs yay! But still not a super amount of healing when shit hits the fan.
Disc at this time, is not working for me at least. At the higher gear levels it may be a viable choice for me, sure I could do it right now, but why struggle. Better stats mean stronger bubbles, less pain being lovingly showered on your group!
3.) Lots of member of SR are either on vacation, getting to 85, or gearing up for heroics.
Lamenting the loss of me bubbles, I have committed apostasy. I have went away from Discipline and rejoined the Choir of the failangels….aka Holy.
And wow…Holy IS A FREAKIN blast to play now. The different Chakras and make playing a holy priest a fun monster to play. The modification to Holy Word: Chastize depending on which chakra state you are in is a great idea. You need AoE? cast Holy Word: Sanctuary?
Need a harder hitting single target heal spell which also increases the chance for healing spells to crit? Look no farther then, Holy Word: Serenity!
The hurdle with Holy is the Chakra swapping and that takes a few minutes to get accustomed to, but once you get the handle of it, it plays out quite nicely.
Also this talent in the Holy Tree is soooo win, it really helps out with mana regen (while in combat) so much.
P.S. This talent has just been buffed today to increase the amount of mana regened from 20% fully talented to 40% fully talented. Sorry I need a new towel
Although, the amount regained from Rapture has been increased from 2.5% to 6%…it is still really low when compared to Holy Concentration. Also rapture can occur only once every 12 seconds.
But at this point, appears Liyhe the bubble priest, will now be Liyhe the failangel, defender of the lolwell.
So last night 5 of us braved the trials of Stonecore….not very scary imo.

Anyways the Stonecore…
The party composition:
Tank – Arvash: Protection Paladin – 83
Healer – Sorak: Restoration Shaman – 85
DPS – Moogik: Balance Druid – 83
DPS – Zerlegen: Marksman Hunter? – 82
DPS – Liyhe: Shadow Priest – 82
Anyways when you 1st zone in…we Wrath’d it for the most part. You know what I mean bruteforced thru the 1st few packs of mobs. Was not too bad. The only issue was the big elemental dudes with their annoying AoE whirlwind thingee. Stay away from it….seems to do more damage the closer you are to it. We had all ranged to did make it easier, but i bet with some form of stun/CC may have been easier.
Also when you get to the conjurer type mobs, kill them 1st as they constantly stream in imp mobs. Then I would say the ogre mobs, as they can charge out and interupt casters. Then depending on your setup, either the melee guys or the fire AoE dudes (sorry I dont remember their names). More melee kill the fire AoE dudes (their ability seems to stay around the tank)
The 1st boss Corborus – Worm boss – lame!
He does not really seem to do much on normal mode:
1.) Don’t stand in bad!
2.) Dampening Wave – Dispel this! It can stack up to 20 – each stacks absorbs healing. So too many stacks and yeah it can get painful.
Other then that he was easy.
Next up: Slabhide
1.) Don’t stand in bad. Don’t stand in front of him!
2.) Tank don’t stand in lava! *stare Arv!*
3.) Watch out for shadows on the ground that means rocks from the ceiling are about to fall in that area. Also healers, ranged DPS these rocks may LoS you to the tank or the mob.
3rd up is: Ozruk
1.) Watch your DBM warnings! if he has the melee spikes on him: melee DPS dont hit him. ranged DPS watch out for his reflect ability. When he ground pounds – melee run away!
2.) Healers watch your tank – he does toss them around quite a bit.
3.) Other then that watch his enrage – 50% more dmg
Just pay attention and pew pew.
And finally: Evil Priestess Azil
Let me say 1st of all….sooo annoying.
1.) Curse of Blood : Not sure if dispelable? I know as a priest I cannot. But if you can seems like a good idea.
2.) Energy Shield Ugh!
3.) Force Grip Looking back probably should have interrupted this if was able to.
4.) Seismic Shard You can use these to kill the numerous adds. But it does do quite a bit of damage to yourself as well. You can avoid it as well. Think like Garfrost in PoS.
5.) Gravity Well Kite mobs thru these.
Looking back on this fight, interrupting Force Grip may have allowed Arv to pick up mobs easier. Poor Sorak had to heal and kite lol.
Throughout the fight she will become invulnerable and float back to he starting position and summon a boatload of adds. Don’t let them nom on your healer if possible.
Other then that she is not that bad imo.
Not the best write up I know but it really did not seem that bad. But as a PuG I could imagine it to be quite bad. AoE has been nerfed to hell. So no more picking up 8 million mobs and burning them down.
