Raiding…makes you a bad person…really it does…
RAIDING MAKES YOU A BAD PERSON!
ok…i feel i wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this….it’s like calling going to work makes me a bad person, because work is a tedious, repeating process of trying to better oneself with promotions etc….
The author seems to equate any repeating monotonous activity, with the explicit goal to improve onself, even with small gains (so we need to get more) makes one a bad person….
damn sounds like just being alive makes one a bad person…..
If they also dont like MMO’s or gaming in general, why play..?

I think you are overreacting to the article a tad bit much
I think the author is trolling for hits. It’s an inflammatory subject and they know it. For a person with a personality that can get “sucked in” there is no difference between WoW, gambling, sports, fly fishing, etc. If you can’t control yourself, your mind will find a spot to latch on to the vice and that’s it. Learning to recognize the symptoms of addiction and stepping away from whatever the problem is – and finding a way to stop the cycle so you don’t move from one problem to another – is the solution. Blaming raiding and game design is trolling.
Fortunatly Slice saved me from reading it since I now know it is a waste of time. What a crock.
Just wanted to say I’m stupider now from having read the article.
Well, I admit I read the whole thing. The only point I somewhat agree with is that there really should be more “stuff” to do other than raiding at max level (no, boring dailies don’t count) for us mediocre players who will probably never get to do the full raid thing.
As for everything else in the article….I don’t think it’s the game (or any game) that causes it and if one gets to that point while playing a game, well therapy might be useful….
