Once again reading a writen strategy and watching a video, really does not prepare one for the shell shock of the real thing.
Just reading it, the fight does seem straight foward. Kill adds, don’t stand in fire, kill boss. It just seem in phase 1, those mages casting pryoblast are the #1 main reason people are getting destroyed.
The 1st time I have seen in Firelands, where we are a having a detriment by having so many ranged last night. In fact, last night all our DPS was ranged. So interrupts were far and few in between.
But once we get the fight down, I do not think things will be an issue. Getting there will take sometime.
Our makeup for last night was
Tanks: Prot Pally, Blood DK
Heals: Holy Pally, Resto Druid, Disc Priest
DPS: 2 MM hunters, 1 survival hunter, arcane mage, aff lock
Anyone have any pointers on this crazy evil bird?
I have seen people 2 heal this, to free up an extra DPS slot, to sending only 1 person up in the air etc etc.
Overall in the Firelands, I cannot really complain! We knocked off the 1st 4 bosses relatively easy! I just need to improve my stack building ability for Baleroc. (Van at one point was 96k HPS lol. Probably was the LoH)

That tankspot article you sent me said those adds in Alys P1 getting a buff every time they cast that spell. So yeah … we *need* interrupts or we’re not getting anywhere.
How the hell did we go from ‘zomg no moar melee!!!!’ to ‘what is melee?’ If you really want to 2 heal it and we need melee that know how to interrupt …
Also … *droooool* at teh Firebirds in the first pic. Ya that’s right, I’m totally a muscle car girl.

Drifting is for fools who do nothing but turn left all day. How fast you can go 1/4 mile … that’s where it’s at.
The buff that the adds get is crazy, it double dips as its a damge increase and a cast increase. If the add gets off one or two pyroblasty casts early then at best you get every other cast and the stacks will continue to go up even with a short CD dedicated interupter. I really think this is a mechanic that hurts 10man raids that 25s could handle with ease.
Agreed Ado – the composition headache of a 10 man raider really makes it a PITA for this fight. Come on Blizz where is bring the player not the class! I do see their logic behind it, cause if the adds did not do that, it would make the fight quite trivial.
But for many guilds Aly appears to be the thorn in their side. The fight is hella harder then Baleroc. Those two should flipped positions.
Next week think going to try this.
1st – 2 healing it. this will free up a DPS spot.
2nd – depening on whom we have signed up is really going to see how the DPS is going to be split up.
3rd – get Zarm loot.
Zarm got loot last night. Yay!
